Bahamas Aquatics 2026 Carifta Swim team is currently competing in Martinique, looking to secure their 8th consecutive Championship win. With 24 countries total, and teams from all over the Caribbean gunning for Team Bahamas, it’s been a grueling 4 days of preliminaries in the mornings and finals in the evenings. The Open Water competition is set for Wednesday morning, after which the team will travel back to Nassau.
While Team Bahamas has won the most medals of the meet so far, swimming is won by points. The Bahamas is back on top after a very short-lived trail behind Jamaica during Day 2. The top 5 results going into the final day of pool events are:
Bahamas – 613.50
Jamaica – 558
Trinidad & Tobago – 545
Barbados – 474
Cayman Islands – 413.5
Team Bahamas standouts this year both in the 13-14 category, are Isabella Cuccurullo and Christon Joseph swimming 9 and 10 individual events respectively (not including relays) having medaled in the majority. Also contributing to our strong lead is Harold Simmons medaling in all 3 Butterfly events (50/100/200 meters) and Sean Norville-Smith (medaling in the 50 and 100 Backstroke events).
Team Captains Lelah Lewis, William Farrington and Tristen Hepburn all in the 15-17 age group, have each medaled and are keeping the younger ones encouraged and motivated, leading by example.
Isabella Munroe made a strong statement currently medaling in 4 events for the girls 11-12 age group during her second Carifta appearance, last year being her first. Fellow 11-12 swimmers Star Seymour and Logan Comarcho swam impressive performances in the Breaststroke events to land themselves some hardware.
Relays carry double points, and every one of the 36-member swim team is doing their part to ensure we come home with the title ‘Best in the Caribbean’ again!
