In a region filled with athletic powerhouses, The Bahamas continues to do something that doesn’t make sense on paper but always shows up on the track.

At the CARIFTA Games 2026 in Grenada, Team Bahamas secured 17 medals 6 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze finishing third overall. But the real story isn’t just the medal count. It’s the math behind it.

With a population of just under 400,000, The Bahamas is going stride for stride with countries like Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, whose populations are significantly larger. More people, more resources, bigger talent pools and yet, we’re right there.

That’s not luck. That’s culture. That’s coaching. That’s pride.

Every medal carries more weight because of where we come from. It speaks to a system that produces excellence, even without the numbers advantage.

So while others may top the table, The Bahamas continues to punch above its weight and make it look effortless.
