As 2025 speeds to a close and after Expedition 33 sweeping The Game Awards, we look to the future to see what lies ahead. 2025 was a stacked year for gaming on all platforms with heavy hitters in all genres but 2026 looks to be an extremely promising – and record breaking year. Here are my top 10 most anticipated games for 2026:

10. Code Vein II (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

 Sequel to Bandai Namco’s ‘Code Vein’ released all the way back in 2019. Code Vein has a very huge following, often described as ‘Anime Dark Souls’ and of course is marketed toward both fans of the Japanese art style and souls-like gameplay mechanics.  A sequel has long been awaited and finally fans will be getting their fix extremely early into 2026 with a January 30th release date.

Nioh 3 is the third installment in Team Ninja’s ‘Nioh’ series. As a huge fan of the Nioh games I’m particularly looking forward to this one. The Nioh games are known for its over the top combat and boss fights and extremely challenging-but satisfying-levels and encounters. Nioh 3 plans to expand and sharpen its best aspects even more and is planned to be experienced early into the year with a February 6th release date.

From the creators of the well acclaimed MMORPG ‘Black Desert Online’; Pearl Abyss Studios takes a dive into the “Single-Player Action RPG” pool with their latest project Crimson Desert. It looks to play similarly to the ‘Middle Earth’ with fluid open world movement, flashy animations and hordes of enemies coming at you from all directions. Planned to be released on March 19th.

7. Invincible Vs. (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

After a surprise reveal in 2025, Invincible Vs. looks to be one of the more interesting fighters in the genre. Developed by Skybound Entertainment and Quarter Up, its a 2D Fighter for the immensely popular ‘Invincible’ TV Series & Comic. Inspiration being taken from NetherRealms ‘Injustice’ and ‘Mortal Kombat’, I’m curious to see whether this game will be a success or just another throwaway franchise fighter.

6. Forza Horizon 6 (Xbox Series X|S, PC)

The infamous ‘Forza Horizon’ series recently revealed more details about its latest installment ‘Forza Horizon 6’. Described as the best racing franchise in gaming by millions and held in such a high regard; Forza Horizon 6 is set on taking the Forza experience to the country of Japan, which will be a beautiful backdrop to the highspeed and flow-like gameplay the Forza series in known for. Also planning to be released on PS5 consoles sometime after release. An exact release date is still unknown, but it is planned to be released in 2026.

Marvel & Fighting game fans rejoiced earlier this year with the shocking reveal of Tokon: Fighting Souls; a 4 player 2D Fighter developed by the infamous ArcSystemWorks. Fans of  ‘Marvel Vs. Capcom’, ‘Dragon Ball Fighterz’ and ‘Guilty Gear’ will feel right at home with this game. ArcSystem are known for their great fighting games which often come with a huge competitive scene often being seen taking the stage at events like EVO. I’m positive Marvel’s Tokon Fighting Souls will be both fun and competitive amongst friends and online rivals alike. Release date still to be determined but is confirmed for a 2026 release.

4. Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, PC)

The Batman games have held a special place in the hearts of many gamers – myself included. The Lego Batman games and Arkham games have always been considered some of the best portrayals of the mask crusader and best games in the super hero genre as a whole. TT Games had the crazy idea of combining the best of both worlds into one single game. With the often praised open world traversal and combat of the Arkham games mixed in with the nostalgic comedic-driven style of the LEGO universe, Legacy of the Dark Knights looks to be something special. With a release date of May 2026; I can’t wait to play this and dive back into the world of Batman and Lego for myself.

3. Phantom Blade Zero (PS5, PC)

A new Action RPG developed by the Chinese development team ‘S-Game’, Phantom Blade Zero looks to bring style and challenge to the action scene. With crisp animations and engaging combat; every trailer I’ve seen of this game makes it look more and more enticing. Fans of games like ‘Sun Wukong’, ‘Wo Long Fallen Dynasty’ and ‘Where Winds Meet’ seem to be the most interested due to similar art styles and gameplay mechanics.  Planned to be released on September 9th.

2. Marvel’s Wolverine (PS5)

My personal favorite studio Insomniac Games finally broke the silence earlier this year with their official reveal of  ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’, planned to be released in Fall 2026. Although little information is known about the game it looks to be heavily action packed and chaotic like the Wolverine games of the early 2000s. Unlike its superhero counterpart ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ also developed by Insomniac, instead of an open world approach its going to be more open zone. I can’t wait to see Insomniac’s take on Logan’s brutal fighting style and story.

We all knew it was coming. Rockstargames’ long awaited addition to the legendary Grand Theft Auto franchise. Despite the many delays and pushbacks GTA VI has already broken records for the most viewed trailer in history across all platforms; and being voted ‘Most Anticipated Game’ at The Game Awards TWICE. The industry is well aware of the behemoth that is GTA VI. Whether it is a flop or a success; it will change the gaming industry as we know it and rock it to its core. Planned to be released on November 19th, we can only wait and see what the most anticipated game in history has to offer the world.
