Are rhinestones taking over men’s streetwear fashion? Let’s talk about it, gentlemen. In recent years, streetwear for men has transformed from notable brands like Supreme, Bape, Stussy (this is for the more American-influenced Bahamians), to styles rooted closer to home, where brands like Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, and True Religion have long shaped everyday street style, among many others. Now, we’re seeing an influx of fast fashion brands and also new notable brands adding rhinestone details to each piece of men’s clothing, as a fresh trend. While this may feel like a new wave, it echoes styles seen years ago, where brands like True Religion and Robin’s Jeans experimented with bold stitching and embellishments.
However, what once served as a subtle accent has now expanded to dominate entire pieces, often paired with loud graphics that push the look into an oversaturated, almost overwhelming visual space. This shift in design is also making it increasingly difficult for those of us who prefer a more understated look (like me) to find everyday pieces in streetwear stores, as bold, attention-grabbing styles begin to dominate the racks. So, gentlemen, are rhinestones here to stay, or is this just a flashy phase in the evolution of men’s streetwear?”
